Ripon, known as the Garden Racecourse, is a picturesque track in North Yorkshire. Betting on horses can be tricky at this course, but you can always get betting tips from Sky Sports Alex Hammond in addition to the latest betting information, including the best odds, runners & riders and race cards. Racing began in the city as far back as 1664 but moved to the current site in 1900. It’s the track that launches the Go Racing In Yorkshire Summer Festival and attracts healthy crowds throughout the summer.
Great St Wilfrid Handicap Form & Betting
The big race of the summer is the Great St Wilfrid Handicap which always attracts a maximum field and is a keen betting heat.
The track is very undulating and does not suit every horse, indeed course specialists are always worth following to get the best information before backing your horse.
The draw bias can change on soft ground but low numbers are usually favoured on the round course and high numbers in sprints on the straight track, it’s always worth checking the race cards and betting information.
Danny Tudhope is the leading jockey over the last five years although Graham Gibbons, Tony Hamilton and P J McDonald are close behind.
David O’Meara is leading trainer from Tm Easterby, Richard Fahey and Mark Johnston. David Barron has a good strike-rate at the track.
