All Weather Racing, All Weather Betting

Kempton race course hosts Flat racing all year round on its all-weather track, with National Hunt racing taking place in the winter months, including the King George VI Chase on Boxing Day and you can find all the latest race cards with live odds right here.

King George Chase: Best Odds

The King George is Kempton’s jewel in the crown and has been won by some of the greats of the jumping game, including Arkle, Captain Christy, Wayward Lad, Desert Orchid, Kicking King and Kauto Star.

The late, great Kauto Star won the Christmas highlight a record-breaking five times, overtaking dashing grey Desert Orchid who lit up the Sunbury venue during festive periods in the late 1980s.

The King George VI Chase was first run in 1937 and was named in honour of the new British monarch at the time. The event was run on its new date of Boxing Day for the first time in 1947 and the three-mile steeplechase is now recognised as the second most prestigious chase in England, behind only the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

The site briefly closed between May 2005 and March 2006 while the new all-weather Polytrack was laid and floodlights were installed. The 2005 King George was run at Sandown while this work took place.

Kempton: Winter Betting

As well as the King George other significant National Hunt races at the track include the Grade One Christmas Hurdle and the Grade One Kauto Star Novices’ Chase that are run at the same meeting as the King George in late December.

In January the Lanzarote Hurdle takes place and that is followed by the BetBright Chase in February, with the Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle, a significant trial for the Sky Bet Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, run on the same race card.

Spring signals the start of some top-class all-weather racing at the track with the Magnolia Stakes, Rosebery Stakes and Easter Stakes taking place in March or April.

In September there are a couple of Group Three contests on show, namely the Sirenia Stakes and September Stakes.
